Oklahoma is a state with a dramatic past and an exciting present. Whether you like a big-city atmosphere or a small-town fee, you’re sure to find it here in the capitol, Oklahoma City.  From NBA basketball to downtown’s Bricktown river-walk area, Oklahoma City has everything you’re looking for including: Restaurants, shopping, and entertainment.  More than a million people call metro-Oklahoma City home, students are provided numerous choices from renowned festivals and national sporting events, to treasure-filled museums, and a vast assortment of outdoor activities.

Located in southwest Oklahoma City, Mid-America Christian University is perfectly located less than a half mile from I-44, with quick access to all parts of town. The university is less than 15 minutes to Will Rogers World Airport, downtown Oklahoma City, and the nationally recognized Warren Theater.

Thunder logosFor those who love sports, Oklahoma City is home to the NBA’s Oklahoma City Thunder. The newly remolded Ford Center hosts over 42 games a year, as well as numerous live concerts. Oklahoma City is also home to the minor league Oklahoma Redhawks (baseball) and Oklahoma City Blazers (hockey), both playing downtown.  If golf is your game, or you just like to go for a jog, directly across the street from MACU is the 36-hole Earlywine Golf Course and Earlywine Park with a 1.5 mile walking track.

Oklahoma City offers a warm climate and lots of outdoors activity options. Beautiful Lake Hefner is less than a 30-minute drive north of the main campus and offers many recreational activities. Oklahoma City Zoo, Botanical Gardens, and the Myriad Botanical Gardens are always a favorite of couples and families. If you like amusement parks, Oklahoma City is also home to Frontier City and White Water Bay.

If indoors activities is more your style, the beautiful Warren Theater is about 15 minutes from campus and offers a wide array of movie options. The theater features state of the art sound and video and is located in the booming Moore shopping district with numerous restaurants and retail shops.

If you’re a shopper, there are any number of area malls and shops in Oklahoma City, as well as in Moore and Norman.

Many parents of MACU students take advantage of the sites and activities while visiting in Oklahoma City. There are numerous hotels located within 15 minutes of the university on I-240, Meridian Avenue, or I-35 in the Moore area.
Each of these areas is safe and also offers numerous places to eat.
